Glowing Firefly Cross Stitch

When I was about six I made a lantern with Tennessee fireflies in a jar until a Ranger threatened me with jail for false imprisonment. Luckily no fireflies were harmed in the making of this memory as I set them free to avoid embarking on a criminal lifestyle. But I still love fireflies and made this design as a companion to the dragonfly I designed last year.

I used Sulky Holoshimmer thread for the firefly body and lettering. And I used Kreinik rainbow blending filament added to color for the wings, and Kreinik glow in the dark blending filament for the tail, for a glow around the tail, and just for fun in the flower centers.

Dragonfly Cross Stitch

Here is the fifth design in the Summer Series. I used all my favorite colors and threads. The fabric is Cornflower Blue hand dyed linen from Wichelt. I also used DMC floss, The Gentle Art over dyed thread, Kreinik Rainbow blending filament, Sulky Holoshimmer thread and Mill Hill beads. I can only get away with that much color and glitter at a five year old princess party or designing counted cross stitch.
